WIP Plastics: Annual Forum on June 16, 2021 - Solution approaches for sustainable plastics

17.05.2021 08:27

Stakeholders from the "Plastics Value Chain" exchange experiences and ideas at the "WIP Annual Forum 2021" on June 16, 2021.
Only if many individual cycles are closed will plastics become sustainable and thus successful in shaping the future. Value chains are no longer topical, value circles are. Most companies do not yet have a specific idea of what their contribution could include in these cycles. Other companies are already in the process of expanding their contribution. The event will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Hans-Josef Endres, head of the Institute for Plastics and Recycling Technology and WIP board member. It aims to highlight several approaches to sustainable plastics. It will point out a variety of approaches available for companies to enter the cycle themselves.

Dr. Bernd Althusmann, Lower Saxony's Minister of Economics, will emphasize the importance of the plastics industry for a sustainable economy.

Dr. Martin Engelmann, IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackung e.V. and WIP board member addresses Why good ideas for recycling are better than prejudices.

Dr. Ina-Maria Becker from Grüner Punkt illustrates how design before recycling can become the greatest lever. The statement of Marta Heuser, APK, who presents material solvent-based recycling is that product-to-product cycles can succeed even with multilayer films. Bertram Stern from the machine manufacturer Arburg brings a whole range of appropriate solution approaches. Dr. Gerold Breuer from Erema offers an increase in machine performance via a customer platform on which all possible service and data processing apps for quality control are collected.

Benjamin Hein from DIN shows why standards are necessary for closed-loop control.

The evening event will be held jointly with the Plastics Technology Laboratory Department of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.Participants are invited to attend to discuss the experts' solutions and to develop their own ideas. In addition to the information from the Plastics Technology Laboratory, an online talk room will provide an opportunity to find the right partners for this in discussions.

On the following day, the 22nd symposium "Advances in Plastics Technology" of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences will take place. If both conferences are booked, then both organizers grant a discount.
