Polyimide films: Expansion of the product range

Polyimide film in a wider thickness range

The 12.5 - 125 µ thickness range of polyimide films previously offered as standard was limited by this thickness due to flexibility in insulating wires, conductors, cables, windings, motor slots, solenoids, transformers and capacitors. Special grades are used for insulating high temperature resistant wires, cables and flat cables and as masking tapes.
Additional strength is now available for applications where material stiffness, low hygroscopicity, high dielectric strength and flammability V0 rating are important.
In addition to the familiar thicknesses of 0.150, 0.180, 0.200, 0.230 and 0.250 mm, Dietrich Müller GmbH also offers polyimide films under the brand name Flexiso PI FI 16000.
As areas of application, Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH uses polyester film for housing insulation of electrical and electronic equipment as well as slot insulation and slot sealing in electric motors, especially drives for electric vehicles, due to its temperature resistance up to 130°C.
Insulating parts of batteries are another field of application.
Other special grades
In addition to expanding its product range within the thickness range, Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH has also added other special grades to its product portfolio.
With the polyimide film Flexiso BW FI 16035, Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH has developed a thermally conductive polyimide film as an alternative to established products on the market. The film is used in electronic devices for cooling in the manufacture of power modules and printed circuit boards. Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH supplies Flexiso BW FI 16035 with a thickness of 0.05 mm for the newly developed vehicle brake electronics.
Flexiso CR FI 16055 polyimide film is a corona-resistant polyimide film used specifically for insulating profiled conductors and cables - especially in systems subject to high electrical stress.
Further processing
Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH supplies the new polyimide films in cut rolls, as stamped and formed parts, or as wide products. Prototypes can also be produced on the company's cutting plotters or laser cutting machines.
