For more than two decades, there has been a functioning recycling system for lightweight packaging made of plastics in Germany. This system is well acquainted with the known quantitative correlation of polyolefins (PP and PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polystyrene (PS), some of which are (or can be) sorted out, reprocessed and fed to multiple uses.
But what is the impact of the increased use of bioplastics in the light packaging sector in recent years, both by politicians and by environmentally conscious consumers, on the traditional disposal and recycling routes? Is a peaceful coexistence possible or do the new players in recycling practice lead to potential conflicts?
The C.A.R.M.E.N. web conference will be held in cooperation with the "Future Network of Bio-based Polymers BioFon". It is addressed to recycling and waste management companies, research and development, purchasing, quality and environmental management, product development, process and plastics technology as well as all technically interested parties. Participation in the conference is free of charge.
